Getting Started
A short path from "empty tenant" to "tracking your first asset". You can do this in under ten minutes.
1. Sign in
Sign in with your SSO identity provider such as Microsoft 365 work account. The first user from a new organisation becomes the tenant admin automatically.
2. Set up your taxonomy
Before you add assets, decide how you'll group them. Asset Management uses three levels:
- Category — broad grouping (e.g. Computing, Networking, Mobile).
- Type — what's inside the category (e.g. Laptops, Desktops under Computing).
- Subtype — optional detail level (e.g. Ultrabook, Workstation under Laptops).
Open Settings → Categories, Types, and Subtypes and create what makes sense for your team. You don't need every level — subtypes are optional.
See Categories, Types, and Subtypes for more.
3. Add your first asset
Go to Assets → Add Asset. Give it a name, pick a category and type, set a status, and save. You can scan a barcode if your device has a camera.
The minimum you need is a name and a category. Everything else can come later.
4. Assign it to someone
On the asset's detail page, click Assign. Pick a user from your directory (or type a name) and confirm. The asset's status changes to Checked Out and a history entry is recorded.
When the device comes back, click Unassign.
5. Bring in what you already have
If you have a spreadsheet of existing equipment, use Assets → Import to upload a CSV or Excel file. The importer matches columns to fields and shows you anything it couldn't validate before committing.
If you have an RMM tool (Tactical RMM, NinjaOne, Datto, etc.), connect it under Integrations → RMM and let it sync devices automatically.
